The First Handicapped Indian Woman to Climb Everest
This is the story that few people will
know about the dark night of Arunima Sinha's life. The accident occurred on the
night of 11 April 2011, when miscreants threw them off the train in Bareilly.
Arunima Sinha, who was on track for 7 hours, passed 50 trains over that. The
left leg was separated from the body. The body was lifeless. The mice were
muttering in front of the eyes, but the brain was telling them to live.
Something similar happened during the 2013 climb of Mount Everest, when it was
a short distance from the peak and his prosthetic leg was separated from the
body. Oxygen is over. But again in the mind said that you have to live.
The same situation happened during the
recent climb to the peak of Antarctica, when the falling body responded, but
the mind once more said to live. 30-year-old Arunima Sinha always snatches
'life' while fighting to the death in such a difficult situation. So today,
despite being a Divyang, she has done the feat to reach the highest peak of
seven summits i.e. seven Mahayadapas.
Hailing from a middle-class
family, Arunima was interested in sports since childhood. The father was a
lancet in the army. When Arunima was 4 years old, her father died. The financial
conditions of the house were not good, but his will to play did not become an
obstacle. Arunima represented the college in volleyball nationally at the
school. Also played hockey. Being an athlete teaches you to fight at every
step.
The result of this was that
when the miscreants wanted to snatch their gold chains in the train, Arunima
fought. Lying on the track, she kept fighting herself and is still struggling
every day and every moment. In many interviews and motivational speech, Arunima
has said that this attitude could develop in them due to the games. Therefore
every human being should be associated with some or the other sport.
One leg of Arunima is prosthetic, and the
other has an iron rod. After the accident, he also had two factors in his
spinal cord. But immediately after 4 months of treatment in Delhi in 2011,
Arunima went straight to meet Bachendri Pal instead of going home. His motive
lying on the bed was clear that he did not want to live life as a burden. His
brother's advice and guidance on mountaineering was given to him by his
brother.
Today, he has received the
Padma Shri, National Adventure Award, Honorary Doctorate.
